Location: Sunderland
Contract Value: £73,500
Contract Period: April 2009 until September 2009
The works were split into three sections, an extension to the existing reception, landscaping works to adjacent to the school entrance and works to the rear of the nursery.
The extension involved breaking out the existing tarmac surfacing, installing a concrete pad foundation and slab substructure, masonry and steelwork shell and a glazed roof. The extension incorporated three roller shutters to enable it to be opened up and used by the children as an external toy shelter.
The landscaping works consisted of lifting all existing paving flags in the area and then forming two retaining walls to either side, creating a small garden area. The remaining area was then surfaced with tarmac, forming a small play area. The old windows and doors were replaced in the yard and the garden was finished with a timber sleeper fence.
An area to the rear of the nursery was excavated and surfaced with tarmac to provide a new playing area and resolve existing drainage issues.
